Since 2004, our team has been at the forefront of the OEM drilling industry, developing and delivering advanced drilling technology on a global scale. Our purpose-built rigs integrate sophisticated automation, control, and power management systems designed to
maximize performance, efficiency, uptime, and, above all, safety.

DRILLER'S CONTROLS
Our advanced driller's control systems provide precise, intuitive control over critical drilling parameters, helping operators optimize performance while maintaining safe and consistent operation.

TRI-POWER MANAGEMENT SYSTEMÂ
Our Tri-Power Management System (TPMS) combines electric, natural gas, and diesel capabilities, giving operators the flexibility to select the most efficient power source for their operating environment. Combined with energy storage and intelligent power management, TPMS helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions while improving power quality, operational efficiency, and overall cost-effectiveness.Â

Natural gas-powered engines can provide significant emissions advantages over diesel, with CNG delivering an estimated 13–17% reduction in GHG emissions and 25% or more reduction in COâ‚‚ emissions.Â
Bear Direct-Drive Mud Pump Technology
Since 2006, Bear Drilling has developed and patented direct-drive mud pump technology to help drilling contractors improve power delivery, simplify maintenance and support more efficient rig operations.

Bear’s system couples the electric motor directly to the mud pump pinion shaft, avoiding the belts, sheaves and unnecessary intermediate components used in many conventional drive arrangements. This direct connection creates a streamlined powertrain with fewer mechanical interfaces between the motor and the pump.

The system is available with either a permanent-magnet motor or a conventional AC induction motor, allowing equipment buyers to select a configuration that aligns with their rig design, operating requirements and maintenance strategy.

By reducing the number of drive components, the system can help limit wear points, alignment requirements and routine maintenance associated with conventional power-transfer systems. It also supports efficient delivery of motor power to the pump in a compact package.
KEY BENEFITS
Â
-
Direct motor-to-pump connection
-
Fewer belts, sheaves and intermediate drive components
-
Reduced mechanical complexity
-
Fewer wear points and alignment requirements
-
Permanent-magnet or AC induction motor options
-
Efficient power transfer from motor to pump
-

For drilling contractors, the result is a mud pump package designed to support dependable operation, efficient power use and practical maintenance over the life of the equipment.

Advancing Accumulator Placement
for Walking Rigs
One achievement we are particularly proud of is our work with the AER and CAOEC to support relocating the accumulator next to the rig sub.

When completing multi-well pads with a walking rig, this placement can improve operational efficiency and reduce risks associated with equipment failure, winter conditions, and rig movement.

Key benefits include:

-
Fewer connections, reducing the potential for coupler-related failures
-
Reduced hose length and handling, lowering the risk of kinks, damage, and failures while walking the rig
-
Less exposure to contamination and winter conditions that can contribute to frozen couplers
-
Reduced potential for issues that could affect BOP sealing performance
-
Improved BOP response and closing times
-
A third remote control located outside the required 15-metre spacing
-
Additional options for remotely operating the BOP system

The industry’s adoption of similar layouts demonstrates the value of sharing practical ideas and working together to improve drilling operations. At Bear Drilling, we are proud to help advance solutions that support safer, more reliable, and more efficient performance across the industry.

The hybrid power solution provides a range of operational and environmental benefits, including:Â

-
Reduced fuel consumption and operating costsÂ
-
Lower greenhouse gas emissionsÂ
-
Improved power qualityÂ
-
Increased operational uptimeÂ
-
Lower maintenance requirementsÂ
-
Small footprint for rig-upÂ
-
Reduced noise levels, with some of the quietest rigs in the marketÂ
Â
By combining decades of drilling expertise with advanced technology, practical design, and a strong commitment to safety, we deliver rigs built to perform efficiently and reliably in demanding drilling environments.Â
